Aguavana is the original name we’ve created for the new 4-star luxury hotel concept from Joie de Vivre Hospitality. The inspiring name Aguavana (pro: agua•vanna) is an eclectic combination of the Spanish word for water, “Agua,” and the last two syllables of the word, “nirvana,” meaning: “enlightenment, the freeing of spiritual self, and the ultimate experience of some pleasurable emotion.”

Aguavana creatively and boldly adheres to Joie de Vivre Hospitality’s hotel naming criteria, focusing on five words: Young (at Heart), Worldly, Eclectic, Organic, and Dreamy, that reflect the personality of the hotel, the local community, and the personality and aspirations of the hotel guests. This finely crafted recipe cooks up one flavorful hotel moniker for the new property: Aguavana: a Joie de Vivre Hotel.

Aguavana embraces road weary business and leisure travelers in an accommodating, sensory experience refreshingly anew, while simultaneously conjuring an atmosphere of worldly sophistication and comfort in a welcome sense of déjà vu.

The name Aguavana elicits pride in the local community in which it was found by connecting with the rich, Spanish heritage that permeates Santa Cruz, California. This international shipping port and picturesque mission town is gloriously situated on the shores of the Pacific.

The ocean plays an integral role in the hotel’s allure and heralds Aguavana’s innate “organic” quality. Thus, the wisdom to incorporate the Spanish word for water, “Agua,” into the hotel’s name: Aguavana. It all begins with the water. Our bodies are largely made-up of it, and we are instinctively attracted to it.

The strength of the hotel name Aguavana is that, in an almost painterly fashion, it assembles geographically vivid, dreamy imagery into one easily articulated name distinctly characteristic of its surrounds that beckons: Welcome to Aguavana: aah... “Stay of Mind.”
